Is there any thought of extending annual pass expiration dates to the end of 2020 in case we can reschedule our trip? Are local municipalities allowed to close roads that pass through the national parks? Specifically the Smokey Mountains? Several governments have decided to block access on roads that pass through the parks. We are both well into our 60’s and planned a trip to Great Smokey in May, but desire to cancel in consideration of our health.

Irresponsible to rural Americans that live in these far-removed places This is the worst year I’ve ever lived in shirt. There remain no emergency health services there to contain an outbreak of the virus. Free free free… yet no lodging, bathrooms, trash removal…. what?! Jesus, you set us up for failure as citizens who call these places home! The risk does not outweigh any “reward ” by keeping these open to the masses who have shown they care not about social distancing! Stay home and stop the spread! Shut down your parks. People are traveling long distances, through vulnerable communities, and increasing how rapid this virus is going to spread.
