When the premise of an article is so bad, you can’t even be bothered to use full Letterkenny Wayne hard no vintage shirt. You know there are loads of us who take holidays in Ireland and keep up the traditions and with music and lit and films. Second generation and proud of my Irish roots. I would say one of the reasons for Ireland having such an outsized influence compared with its actual geographical, and economic status is in fact due to your diaspora who mostly live in the U.S. without the tens of millions there cherishing and elevating the culture into the public eye. Ireland would not have the same amount of exposure.

A lot of moaners on here, I think it’s great that people are proud of their Letterkenny Wayne hard no vintage shirt, Irish or otherwise! The hate on here is hilarious, what’s wrong with diaspora? Does it matter? How many Yanks have said, “Oh, I’m Irish” without a hint of irony and they have no clue what county their forebears come from or any idea whatsoever about the history or current culture? I’m sorry, but if you know anything about the country, you aren’t Irish. You never hear German-Americans with that carry-on.
You can’t simultaneously bemoan emigration and fear ‘losing the diaspora’. Many German Americans are fiercely proud, in the Dakotas and Nebraska they’re more or less in the majority, the food is German and the people vocally proud. When the last time you saw germans marching thru NewYork and Chicago waving their flags? I am not speaking of the Americans who do know their roots, only the ones who claim Irishness but know nothing of the country or culture. There are many. I meet them consistently in my travels through America.
